“Minoxidil: Side effects”

Minoxidil has been used and researched for several decades and it’s safe to use on the scalp and is scientifically proven to work the majority of men. As with most medications minoxidil does have some side effects albeit these are quite rare.

• Scalp irritation/ Dryness: is sometimes associated with the use of minoxidil, this is not due to minoxidil but some of the additives in minoxidil solutions such a propylene glycol or other alcohols. • Headaches/ dizziness: in the rare event you may experience this and if this is the case you must contact your GP or simply contact our patient care so we can help you.
• Weight gain: Again rare. The use of minoxidil can lead to water retention leading to swollen hands or feet.

A bit of science, minoxidil has a short half-life, so it’s cleared from your system relatively quickly. If you experience any negative side effects it is extremely important to stop using the product and seek further advice from our expert team, as the medication is cleared from your system in such a short time period these effects should disappear.
